SUPPORTED LIVING

ACTIVITIES

Current research shows that people with learning disabilities and mental health related problems can be managed with the use of entertainment and exercise which stimulates the mind, body and spirit. Each service user will be given the choice to take part in various organised, weekly events. Every effort will be made to encourage Service user to take part and to come up with their own ideas for group activities. On a Friday we have a takeout then visit( every second week) a Disco run by SOLO where Service users can make new friend, we visit the local Pub for the experience, go bowling, go to the Cinema or stay at home and watch a movie. Service users discuss in monthly meeting where to have their annual holiday. We have from April to August a monthly day trip/ outing to places like Blackpool, Skegness, Merry Hill Centre and Black Country Museum to name a few places.

Cooking

Service users take it in turns to cook the evening meals supported by staff, meals are prepared from scratch with fresh ingredients.

Gardening

Service users are encouraged to grow their choice of plants and vegetables in the. In summer we have BBQ’s, service users all get together to mow the lawn and tidy the garden with staff.

Budgeting

Service users are encouraged to look after their own money supported by staff.

Shopping

Service users are supported to make a shopping list and go to the local supermarket of service users choice and shop with support worker.
