THE HOME

The Home

Our Home is set in desirable, residential area with a well maintained front and back garden with patio area. Our home has been lovingly refurbished to a very high standard, with specific mind to the needs of adults with learning disabilities, autism, downs syndrome, mental health needs. AMO Care ha s 4 beautiful bedrooms; each bright sunny room has been decorated to the highest standard. Service users have access to wireless broadband, computer access, sky package to cater for all needs TV aerial in each bedroom. Our purpose is to provide the highest standard of care whilst maintaining a homely environment. Our aim is to provide a loving, caring compassionate home for our service users to live a rich and fulfilled life. Extensive activities, entertainment and outings are undertaken regularly for both individuals and groups.

To keep life interesting, we have an extensive range of daily, sometimes twice daily, activities;

In the community:

  • Bowling
  • Cinema
  • Visits to local places of interest
  • Shopping days out


In the home

  • Computer with internet
  • Gaming (Wii ; Xbox)
  • Film nights
  • Board games
  • Cooking
  • Gardening
  • BBQ (weather permitting)
  • Annual holiday
  • Swimming
  • Visit to the local park
  • Going out for walks


The support workers will encourage the Service user to take an active role in their own care and to continue a full and active a life style as possible.

Accommodation

4 tastefully decorated and fully furnished rooms (service (1 on ground floor, 3

on first floor) the home has an up to date fire detection system which complies

with all current regulations and is checked regularly. If service users require

waking or sleep in staff this can be arranged. Security CCTV on front external

door and front exterior of the building.

Each resident’s room contains:

  •  Rooms can be furnished or unfurnished
  • Television point 
  • Central heating radiator

Communal areas

The common areas have been designed to accommodate the service users in comfort, all rooms are decorated to a high standard

  • Utility area, washing machine and fridge
  • Dining room with computer with internet and fridge freezer
  • Kitchen with cooker, freezer, microwave and small electrical items
  • Downstairs shower room with wc
  • Upstairs bathroom with wc
  • Cloak room
  • Front lounge TV with sky package
  • DVD player/Wii/Xbox
  • Large south facing garden with patio area

Meals

All resident shop for their breakfast choices, lunch and snacks, all residents put money in together and buy for 4 days evening meals. The menu is set in advance by all service users the emphasis is on fresh produce, locally sourced, and nutritionally balanced. Specific dietary needs can also be accommodated and meals may be taken either in the communal dining room or in the resident’s room.

Activites

Current research shows that people with learning disabilities and mental health related problems can be managed with the use of entertainment and exercise which stimulates the mind, body and spirit. Each service user will be given the choice to take part in various organised, weekly events.

Every effort will be made to encourage Service user to take part and to come up with their own ideas for group activities. On a Friday we have a takeout then visit( every second week) a Disco run by SOLO where service users can make new friend, we visit the local Pub for the experience, go bowling,  go to the Cinema or stay at home and watch a movie. Service users discuss in monthly meeting where to have their annual holiday. We have from April to August a monthly day trip/ outing to places like Blackpool, Skegness, Merry Hill Centre and Black Country Museum to name a few places.
